The city of Kitakami is located on a center of the vast Kitakami plain. The land where the Kitakami River and the Waga River meet has the proper geographic requirements for living, and there has been people’s daily lives from a long time ago. Nowadays, railroads, highways, roads, and Shinkansen in Kitakami have been well maintained and these transportations are working as the crossroads in North Tohoku.

A lot of cultural assets and remains after the Old Stone Age have been found such as more than 100 ancient tombs formed during 7~8 century and traces of Kunimisan Dilapidated Temple which flourished as one of the biggest Mecca of the Mountain Buddhism during the Heian era (794~1192).
The city of Kitakami is working on various productions such as rice farming, vegetables, flowers, stockbreeding, and so on and playing a very important role as a general food supplying base in Iwate.

In the Showa era (1955~1965), Kitakami had worked very hard on developing the industrial estates, inviting companies to the city, and promoting local companies in Iwate. And we succeeded in inviting lots of companies such as pulp and casting, metal molding, and cutting-edge semiconductor. As a result, Kitakami became one of the largest indusial accumulations in Tohoku.

Sakura Hall was built in November 2003. There are many rooms with different sizes and uses such us for music practicing rooms, atelieries, conference rooms and so on. There is lots of greenery inside the hall and that makes one comfortable to stay even for a long time.
